“Return to the root and you will find the meaning.”- Sengcan
Summer is finally over. As we await temperatures to drop and clear blue skies to appear, it is time to get ourselves ready for what is shaping up to be the largest edition of our series.
Boogie Box Festival has been 14 years in the making, ever since we launched our very first event back in 2009. We are proud and honored to be the longest-running House and Techno party series in the UAE, and quite possibly the wider Middle East region. This festival will coincide with our 13 Year Birthday, and we cannot wait to celebrate it with you all.
Our hope is to produce this event in a manner befitting of what we have stood for and create a memorable experience through art, community, music, and technology.
Our vision for the festival is simple:
Curate an all-encompassing lineup representative of Boogie Box’s musical philosophy.
Give a platform to Artists and DJs to express themselves with longer sets and musical journeys.
Give back to the community through social responsibility and education initiatives.
Implement a sustainable environmental approach to reduce our carbon footprint.
Design a high-caliber and creative show that incorporates mood over flash, immersive over extreme, and quality over quantity production.
Hosted in the picturesque and beautiful desert camping destination of The Dunes at Ras Al Khaimah, this full-day festival will host two electric stages over a 16-hour period.
Stage One will be geared towards Big Room Energy, and we are excited to offer a platform to debut all our international headliners.
First up is DJ Boring who is fresh off his release on Gerd Janson's excellent Running Back label. DJ BORING epitomizes the dance floor roots of club culture; positive energy, liberating and unifying selections, and unbridled fun and self-expression, combined with respect for the music and a genuine desire to share his unwavering passion.
Joining DJ Boring on Stage One is Levon Vincent, an artist we have been working hard to book for Boogie Box. It took us five years, but what better way to showcase this immensely talented Techno producer than to grace our main stage. Levon is renowned for crafting a unique and distinctive sound that is unmistakable "Levon", a favorite with different jockeys from across the board, including veterans like Craig Richards and Marcel Dettmann.
Topping it off is straight-up, no-nonsense Techno producer and DJ Matrixxman. The American artist has a prolific discography and releases on labels that include Dekmantel, KSR, Nonplus, and Planet Rhythm. He is also a regular fixture in the most notorious Techno clubs like Berghain and Fabric. His diverse production capabilities culminated in his 2016 work for Depeche Mode on their album “Spirit”. It is not often that an artist can cover such a range without faltering but then again Matrixxman has always eschewed conformity.
Stage Two will showcase a quirkier, moodier, and more diverse selection of sounds; with a coterie of some of the most talented local and international artists.
Stepping up to the plate is Anthea, one of the most charismatic selectors on and off the decks. Anthea brings to the floor a distinct, funk-fuelled range spanning several electronic genres. A mainstay in the House and Techno scene, her devotion to digging the most exciting has won her countless dancer-filled floors across the globe.
Next up to bat is Molly. This Parisian DJ has built a sterling reputation through years of devotion and her ability to weave together a variety of styles that range from sultry house to the toughest of techno. It is no surprise that her talent has earned her the opportunity to grace the decks at clubs like Panorama Bar, Circoloco, and Robert Johnson.
Last, but certainly not least, is one of our most revered artists, whose masterpiece “Beau Mot Plage” has been a track that shaped many a taste at the house of Boogie Box. Isolee, aka Rajko Mueller, is a prolific producer who will be treating us to a live set and twisting our hearts, minds, and souls on our sacred Stage Two dance floor.
Both stages will be supported by a range of artists who have been at the forefront of defining the regional scene. Angry Suzy, Nesta, Maks, and Boogie Box residents Cyrill Reaidy, Hani J, Hassan Alwan, Tristan Girault, and Shadi Megallaa, will all add their unique flavor to help make it one night to remember.
The Dunes is a short, one hour and fifteen-minute drive from Dubai, and at the camp, we are more than happy to offer a range of options to make sure you are able to rest your bodies after a long night of dancing.
A diverse selection of food and beverage options from homegrown vendors will be available, in addition to a vibrant marketplace offering Art, Music, Photography, and more.
Festival attendees will also have the option to stay overnight at the festival.
All ticket holders will be able to bring their own tents to camp at The Dunes.
We also have a range of on-site accommodation options that include cabins, glamping tents, and more.
Sustainability is at the forefront of the message at our festival, and we will be working to ensure that we are committed to a zero single-use plastic approach. We are happy to provide festival goers with the most environmentally friendly options. After all, the only footprints we would like to see are the ones marked on the dancefloor!
Finally, we will be donating a percentage of our profits to a social responsibility initiative in the region to empower individuals in need of accessing Art and Music education programs and/or scholarships. More information on this will be announced on our Instagram page.
